One of my all time favorite shots. If you look in a book about the California Zepher that is a shot taken in this same exact spot. I saw the book later on and compared the bushes and trees which were barely unchanged in the 30-40 year time difference in the photographs. Cabooses were on the headend of the train because of a large derailment at the Keddy Wye. |

A variety of power rests at the Avondale diesel shop. The MP diesel shop in the background was partially destroyed during Hurricane Katrina and eventually torn down. That was the best excuse yet to move locomotive maintenance to Livonia, LA, no more diesel shop. |
